Greener Every Day is the eco-lifestyle and green home consulting practice of Rachel White. Rachel has a PhD in Religious Studies from Brown University; she trained and worked for more than a decade as a researcher and educator. During this time, Rachel was increasingly nagged by the suspicion that the academic life was not for her and that working to protect the environment was her true passion.
Finally, Rachel left academia behind and got to work creating a more sustainable lifestyle for her family. She has also made major energy improvements to her home, executed a green home renovation, and become actively involved in the greening of her local community. These experiences have taught Rachel that while building green and living green are not always easy, they are worth it. Rachel decided to become a green lifestyle and home consultant in order to share the information and the know-how that she has gained with others and to help make their paths to sustainability a little easier.
Although Rachel recognizes that her efforts to promote sustainable lifestyle practices are a tiny piece of what is needed to address the environmental challenges we face, she feels that a tiny piece is better than no piece at all. Rachel also believes that green living has value not only for its own sake but also–why not dream big?–for its potential, however indirectly, to contribute to broader change.
Rachel lives in Newton, MA with her husband and two children and their dog. You can read about Rachel’s green living journey and learn more about her perspective on the challenges and joys of going green at The Greener Side of Life, the Greener Every Day blog.
