    Building Energy 12

  • Building Energy 12
    Mar 6, 2012
    9:00AM

    Seaport World Trade Center
    200 Seaport Boulevard, Boston

The Northeast’s most established and most cross-disciplinary renewable energy and high performance building conference is back. Sponsored by The Northeastern Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), the Building Energy conference features high-level presentations by building science gurus, sustainable design visionaries, and renewable energy policy wonks. Participants and speakers are on the leading edge of the green building and renewable energy movements; many are nationally and even internationally renowned.

While geared primarily towards professionals, energy activists and interested building owners are welcome. There is an Energy Basics workshop being held on Tuesday that is appropriate for non-professionals (I’ll be there to fill in some holes in my knowledge of building science) and the trade-show would appeal to anyone considering a green building project.

I hope to see you there. You can also follow the conference on twitter using #be12 (Yes, I’ll be tweeting live from the conference).

Do all those green rating points you’ve earned actually have an impact? Have your efforts gotten you anywhere important, when you come right down to it? What you’re designing and building today will have an environmental impact for many decades to come, so it really matters whether you’re getting it right or not. This session of Build Boston will provide tools to help you evaluate whether your projects are part of the solution to environmental degradation and resource depletion—or whether they continue to be part of the problem.

Led by Rachel White and Jonathan Kantar of Sage Builders. For more information please visit the Build Boston website.

Plastic is everywhere and an integral part of all of our lives: we store our food in plastic, we play with plastic, we build with plastic–not to mention that there is a floating island of plastic trash in the Pacific Ocean that is about the size of Texas.

Our use–and abuse–of plastic presents many risks to our health and the environment. Join me and other great panelists at this month’s Healthy Child, Healthy World twitter party to learn about the problems with plastic and how to find safe, eco-friendly alternatives.

To join the twitter party all you need to do is

    1. Follow @healthy_child on twitter
    2. At the start of the party search for #healthychild to display the party feed.
    3. Include #healthychild in each of your tweets.
    3. Use Tweet Grid to make following the conversation easier.

    Hope to “see” you there!
